Restringing classical guitar

I bought this classical string for D and I noticed that this little green ribbon ro something at one end of the string. I put that end through my machine head but i think that end its supposed to be at the bridge. Is it ok if i do it this way?

Arg just noticed that at the bridge the string coating has been mysteriously stripped away(making it look disjointed or something) and looks like its about to snap. ARGG, how come man. Its a new string and the part where its resting on doesn't seem to be rough or anything

u have to put the one wif the ribbon at the headstock i think, just like violins

I see, what about the second problem? Was it because the string was over stretched?

yes i think so, it happens when the string is either too old or overstretched i think. i think the most u get a new one or u cut off that part?
