This is our Marshall 1960AV 4X12 cabinet and the left 2 speakers on it had conked out! Upon checking the coils of the speakers it was found to be open circuit. We replaced the faulty speakers with Celestion Vintage30 16Ohm units and below is a pictorial of how it was done. We hope it will be useful to some....
Marshall 1960AV 4X12 Guitar Cab
A brand-new-in-box Celestion Vintage30 16Ohm. The foam linings or gaskets are included and have to be pasted around the circumference if the cone.
The stock left side top and bottom speakers removed. Both speakers measured open circuit. Wonder what the previous owner did to blow these up!
Two units of new Vintage 30s stitting happily in the cabinet now!
No soldering was required as connectors were used on all electrical joints. Some knowledge on the use of multimeters and resistance measurement is all that is needed. Just be careful not to let anything impact the fragile cone while doing the mounting. Just a small tear is enough to cause annoying buzzing!
