Removing Worn Hex Screw

Hi guys,

Have an RG320FA guitar. Wanted to remove the 2 hex screw right behind the floyd nut . So that i can put a shim on it since my E String is buzzing badly coz the nut is too low. I later found out that one of the hex screw is worn out. I dont seem to be able to remove it with the allen key.

Is there anyway or anyone who is able to remove the hex screw for me? Really need to have this get done or else my axe aint going to be playable!

Question 2) Im using gauge 9 D'addario on my guitar...and it seems that the tension is reallly tight when i tune to standard. I wouldnt want to use gauge .08. As i still prefer .9. Does sending the guitar for setup solve the tension problem? Do let me know.

Thanks in advance!

think you can drilll it out? lol.. but getting replacements are a pain.. have to preorder from sweelee cz they dont stock spares, neither does davis for my edge pro 2. which floyd model izit?

Did you use the right size allen wrench? If the hex head is worned, you can spot glue the allen wrench to the hex screw.

A set up should solve your other problem.

Drill the screw? Maybe i'll try to use empty71 trick by using super glue. Not sure if it can work because the hole is getting bigger. Will do it tomorrwow. Thanks guys.

If theres anymore tips, do share it here. :D

I suggest you handle it very delicately. One slip and that's it. Better yet take it to a professional. The super glue trick should work though, but you have to realise that there's not much room to be filled by the super glue. Hence not enough grip factor.

or u can use a plier and slowly grip and turn... blah... super glue the thing to some "L" shape thingy and turn ba... faster

In cases of extreme rust, drilling maybe the only option and you would need a screw extractor. Something which looks like this: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/brandsplace/0246-kd-2419.html

You can purchase it most hardware shops. if unsure of course get someone technically inclined to do it. Not necessarily a guitar tech, but any handyman should be able to solve your problem.
