Recording with Maudio Firewire Solo

Hi all.

I am so confused after reading about all the different ways to record. Hopefully someone here can enlighten me. Please bear with me.

I recently purchased an M Audio Firewire SOLO interface and I have already installed the interface with my Macbook pro 13inch and connect it via firewire cable, hoping to use it with garageband. I have a pedalboard and a Blackheart little giant which i wish to connect to the audio interface.

My question is.. Do i connect them to the rear linein/lineout outputs? And does my guitar goes into the front of the interface?

With this, should i connect my headphones/speakers to the audio interface or macbook?

Appreciate if someone can share their inputs with me.

Thanks. :)

depending on what you want to do, you can record the clean guitar signal by plugging your guitar into the M-Audio's Instrument input (guitar 2) via a standard 1/4inch guitar cable. If you want to use your pedals, plug your guitar into the pedalboard as per normal and then plug the output into the interface just like the above. Connect your headphones/speakers to the audio interface. Your amp does not have a line out, so you cannot plug it in directly; however you can use a microphone to record it.

it's almost 5 years old but it should still apply. the difference is almost everyone is using firewire/USB and "audio interfaces with onboard preamps" in 2012. and the computers are way more powerful + cheaper now.
