Hey people how do u record over ur backing tracks??? Wad programme to use? please help.

Actually any multitracking software or device will do the job.
For me, I use protools but you can use anything from a MD or cassette multitracker, to Alesis/tascam multitrack recorders.
If not the M-Audio stuff is also reasonable. Things like audition will also do the job (with appropriate interface)

not sure if u can still download powertracks for free.. that programme can. I'm using cubase le at the moment. Others u may try are cakewalk/sonar for pc. There's actually tons of programmes out there u can use.. maybe do a search on tucows or something.
A very simple, down to earth, no hassle FREE 16 track (can be up to 56 tracks and also Live usage of the efxs in it) multitracker softie for you here: http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ I have use it and judging to your need, this 1 is just nice. Their efxs are good too.
