Recording decent guitar tracks.

Hi there, I was wondering if someone could give me some ideas on getting a decent distortion to record my tracks.

The thing is that my Zoom Gfx and Ibanez RG plugged into my mic port of my PC and it sounds okay but its too bassy/muddy. I've tried plugging through amp - pedal - pc mic port but there's too much noise. Is there a plugin or something for adobe audition for the distortion sounds or an in built eq?

Thanks in advance.

Does your Zoom have a built-in preamp? Otherwise it should have been ok at least. I find using a multi-efx with built-in preamp works well. The best however is to get a decent interface with your computer, cos after all the guitar requires a high impedence input. Like nam says, the toneport or guitarport should be good. Alternatively you can try recording interfaces from Maudio. These also help with latency problems which can be quite bad if you use software effects and monitor them at the same time.

I think the software amplitude has some great tones. You might want to check it out.

if you ever get the tonport

you gotta check out some patches people have made and posted online

some really sounds awesome
