Record distorted electric guitar !

Hi guys,

I'm wondering what is the best way to record good sounding distorting electric guitar ? I've tried plugging in the input of my guitar into my Presonus Audiobox Audio Interface and the sound is not that nice.

Some say record thru amp is better ! I haven try yet as my amp died yesterday. So guys, I need your advice.

Record thru amp ? Or guitar efx to audio interface to com ?

through amp = you need a good amp + good miking + good mixing for good sound.

through DI = you need a hardware cabinet simulator like palmer or software (amplitube/guitar rig or Studio Devil free) , the sound usually is very clear but too digital and lacking the "oomph" compared to miking.

try both, see which one suits you better.
