Hey fellow softies!

I'm thinking of purchasing a cheaper guitar to actually experiment on(adding EMG +20db gain switch, changing pickups etc) that has a Floyd Rose floating trem or the 1 the Ibanez guitars use. Yup recommend me a guitar to experiment on pls!

Cheers

If you can, search for a secondhand Vantage that is like a copy of the Ibanez S series... I fingered one before and really really liked it. But didn't plug it in so I'm not sure about its tone. If your experimentation works out, you'll probably have a really nice guitar that no one else has. :) Or you could try Samick. But also discontinued so you'll probably have to go the secondhand route.

if you've a tight budget, you could drop by city music and check out some of their hammer guitars and craftsman. these guitars don't cost much and they're qc is quite good. i would think they are good guitars for zhng-ing, but make sure you double check to see if the floating bridges can be retro fitted with original floyd rose units first before purchasing!

If you're not going to change the default bridge, i'd suggest an Ibanez S-series, perhaps the S-470DX? I personally feel that the Ibanez bridges (ZR, EDGE series) have an edge (no pun intended) over the OFRs or the licensed versions made by Schaller and Gotoh. But that's just me.
