Hi guys... now i am fretting about my amp.... is the Mg10 guitar combo marshall good? any 1 had a experience of it? i know.. its 1 of the cheapest there... but i am wondering are there any better marshall amp lower then $150 that is good?

The Marshall MG series aren't particularly well-liked around here. There're better-sounding alternatives around. Don't limit yourself to Marshall. Let your ears be the judge...

What kind of tones are you expecting from your amplifier? If you're looking for good cleans and slightly distorted clean tones, there's quite a variety of good clean amplifiers to choose from. The Sound Drive SG-10 combo I have has really nice cleans, as does the Vox Pathfinder 15R. The Marshall AVT series also sound pretty good at least to my ears, but they cost more than the Sound Drive and Vox.

For heavy distortion tones, get a nice distortion pedal. Majority of small-wattage amplifiers have weak, sub-par distortion tones. You could get a good clean amplifier, and get a distortion pedal to get your distortion tones.

The roland cube series have good cleans too, coupled with onboard multi efx.
Also note that the randall ninja combo and ibanez toneblaster xtreme series have great distortion tones around the price of $200.

Marshall MG15 are actually pretty good!

Well, the one in my room that is =] Dunno why, but it's a honest solid state well broken in still working, no troubles amp after all these years. You could mod one, Beez can do it, but it would bust your budget.

But in all fairness, a Marshall MG is not the best thing out there.

the small randall combos are pretty decent. cleans are fairly good for that size and price. gain cant be compared to marshall ones though. hmm

lemme hijack abit too... since this is about amps...
any good 10-15w amps? i'm new to this too, looking for something small (& good !) to start off with . budget, i dunno, up to 200-300? But anything lower is definitely is fine too.

@ vibe83: Vox Pathfinder 15R. Should be within your budget. :) Perhaps try Ibanez Toneblaster also. I don't know about the small ones but the 100-watter was real awesome... Distortion tones included.

mmm ok. cause im staying with me folks, ahah is this 15R ..or 15watt amps really loud? aiya..but i reckon i can get turn the volumn knob down.

2nd thing..can i ...oops. ok i just read the site for the vox pathfinder...great theres a headphone out.. can just plug my akgs581s into em.

where can i find these amps? i'll call em up for prices heh

that's probably because the manufacturer has better reputation with their tube units but i believe the MG series offer great tone, but people expect it to be valve-like which is not what these models offer.

i have no issue with the MG series...
