Hi y'all,
I'm trying to break out of laptop dependency, and one of the hardwares that i need is a sampler.

Currently i'm eyeing the Roland SP 404, but i have no idea where to find it in sg.

Any recommendations what i should get and where?

thanks,
iva

Cutting wave files much easier on computer. You still need computer to build up your patch in whatever MPC like machine.

IMO, the best would still be using a pc or laptop for sampling because of the flexibilty and also cost.

For hardware based samplers, you may want to check out the AKAI Samplers. However, with software based options so easily available, the AKAI's and their likes, seem to be quite a weird choice to buy into these days...

On the software side, you may want to check out Structure by Digidesign. It works very well within the ProTools environment. Alternatively, take a look at Kontakt by Native Instruments.

you guys think that i should just stick to laptop?

sometimes i have the innate fear that my macbook will hang halfway. :/

I have Fantom Keyboard that do what MPC does. Still not master it. Unless you are doing a lot of realtime control phase and sound designing, stick to laptop.
