hey all
im looking to get a semi accoustic guitar.budget is less than 2k with pick ups installed. any one have any recommendations?

im was thinking of maestro, blueridge and seagull but im definitely open to any other suggestions :)
heard seagulls have maintenance problems in our climate though?

thanks for ur replies in advance! :)

cheers!

With a $2k budget I'd highly suggest you try the Japan made Takamines at Davis and also Alvarez guitars at Luther

you might also wanna check out the Alvarez MD90C at BGW

http://www.bgwguitars.com/alvarez.htm

or maybe some 2nd hand Taylors too

http://www.bgwguitars.com/taylor.htm

But the important thing is to actually try a few of these and choose the one you like most because every acoustic sound different from each other, even between guitars of the same make / model

+1 to 2nd hand Taylors! :)

Just keep a lookout on forums, there's quite alot of good 2nd hand semi acoustics. I'll PM you a link on this.

hey thanks for some of the replies! really appreciate it bro's.
so 2nd hand seems to be quite a gd decision huh. how abt any feedback on maestro and seagull guitars too? anyone tried them(their semi acoustics) :D

Hi there, sorry, when you say semi-acoustics, do you mean acoustic guitars with pickups or electric hollow-body guitars like the Gibson ES-335?
If it's the former, I personally like the Baby Taylor (or Big Baby). The Baby might be small, looks like a ukulele, and unplugged, the sound doesn't travel as well as a full-sized guitar. BUT plug it into a DI and man, it's better than some Martins, Takamines, Ovations, Line 6s, Maestros and Matons. (on the mixer my EQ is usually flat, unless the strings are old, then the treble goes to 1 o'clock)
If it's the latter, I recommend the ES-335. Great, great sound

hey all
im looking to get a semi accoustic guitar.b

What's a semi acoustic?
You wanting a acoustic with an input jack based on your replies?

Get a Taylor prior to '04 if you can help it. But that's pretty general.

The Alvarez's at Luthermusic could be of help to you.
