Recommendation for Solid Top Electric-Acoustic $400 or below

I'm looking to buy a first acoustic guitar and was wondering if anyone had recommendations or suggestions of specific models that might be within my budget, which is around $400.

I was hoping to get an electric-acoustic (acoustic with pickups?) with a solid top and cutaway. I've gone through the City Music Sale Catalog but many of the Custom Acoustics shown on it do not seem to fit the criteria. A model that I was considering was the CORT MR700f from Luther Music which is somewhat overbudget, does anyone have any experience with that model or have other recommendations to make?

Thanks for the time!

p.s. I understand that there are a lot of threads asking for different types of recommendations, perhaps the mods might want to start a sticky thread where many of us newbies can consolidate our questions :)

Mind asking a question man? Do you want a dreadnought or a grand concert? Like that i can help u better? =)

I was thinking dreadnought, although I've never really heard how a grand concert sounds like. Which would be a better compromise between fingerstyle and strumming? :)

possible to up your budget by $200? get the custom FG92CEQ haha all problems solved, full solid guitar. you'll never look back..

Unfortunately, I don't think that'd be possible. The $400 range was pretty much the highest I could bring it up to, although I did stare at the FG92 for a while in the catalog, haha.

ah, damn.. $600 seems to be the sweet spot for above-entry-level acoustic guitars with pickups. for a solid top with cut-away and have good pickup system, honestly hard to find a good deal for $400 except maybe from the buy / sell forum.

another alternative is to hold out the plug in option frist, buy a good solid top for $400. when you save up enough, you can install a good pickup system like fishman etc in the future. though if you do this, most probably can't get one with a cut-away

you have to try to see if the guitar suits your taste. it's well built and has the typical specs like solid engelmann spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides, it definitely feels different from the other various 101 full solids out there, but at $600+, can't beat that kinda price unless you're getting one 2nd hand.

This. It's bang for the buck. A full solid at 600 bucks is like hen teeth.
