a question here, i'm thinking of getting a really smooth single pedal, but there's like so many brands n choices. since you drummers out there have more experience mayb you guys can help me out.

can pedals be ranked from the smoothest to un-smooth?

bro is not the which pedal is smooth ........ is how u set ur pedal ......go around and try afew diff ones see if u like the feel of the pedal.....

PEACE

soli for talking like a noob. but wat tat 9000 thingy? wat brand? i'm think of buying iron cobra double paddle, is tat ok?

i suggest u get the axis pedals...that one is damn great...damn smooth and easy to play...iron cobra is fine too...and DW pedals...ohhh...splendid...but omg the price is a boom...

this shouldn't be about how smooth you want the pedals to be
but rather, wat kind of settings the pedal has to offer so that u can feel most comfortable stepping on it. being smooth does not necesarily mean that it's better, it's all up to how comfortable your feet feels on a pedal

so i suggest u try out as many pedals and with as many settings from each pedal as possible. this way u can GET MORE EXPERIENCE, and u don't have to worry about wat other pple tell u so long as you feel comfortable.
although this method is pretty time consuming, i have to say that it'll be worth it as this pedal can last u a lifetime. unless ur rich? haha

i can't tell u much as i only own an iron cobra double pedal. personally i feel that it's an awesome pair of pedals. and it's adjustability is superb, the hottest debate is always on Pearl Eliminators, Tama Iron Cobras, and DW 9000.

if u feel that DW 9000 is the most comfortable for u, go ahead and buy it. don't bother about the cost.

I think the adjustment is important also. If you're a fast double pedal player, no matter what double pedal you use, you will still be fast.
I own the eliminators P2002C. They are great smooth pedals but sadly to say I still prefer my stock pedal because the eliminator is slightly smaller and I gotta change the whole concept on how I depress on the pedal

DW's are pretty good, but they can be abit too smooth until it gets abit hard to control.
something i really like is the direct drive pedals, axis and trick etc.....
i tried the lugwig speed king which is a really early version of this kind of drive, it was okie. i tried the axis pedal and the response was really good it doesn't have that slack that a chain has. the trick pedal however was just out of this world man, it was just really sensitive and kinda stuck to ur foot if u know what i mean, i was very impressed but the price tag would kill u, it was abt 1.4k sing

in my opinion. if your just a beginner, a yamaha pedal would be good. rather then buy those lousy brands like lazer, yamaha works just fine and would cost around 200. its cheap, solid. although some people say it's not that great compared to dw stuff but what you need is just a good pedal! its steady and works pretty well for me. at that price, i find it good if your budget's low. dw pedal's cost round 900.

haha that was a bit confusing but the bottom line is,yamaha's good- 200,dw-900!

Being a DW9000 user, i feel that this pedal is abble to TRAIN my feet because when i set it tight the footboard is kinda hard to kick. And of course its really smooth. Yamaha flying dragon pedal is very smooth too, but i find it not able to get tight tensions cos the spring is kinda weak to me. perhaps i just don't like the tight feel of that pedal

yamaha 200? no la, yamaha double pedals are 500 la...

anyway personally i love iron cobras the best... in terms of value for money and performance

i heard that iron cobras are not that long lasting, the parts tend to rust and break easier and those parts r hard to get. How true is it?

in my opinion the peace velocities are fantastic value for money pedals...
although they only come in doubles, but they're really worth it.
They're like $280

look for the peace velocity nitro drive.
They've got enough weight to make you feel all power full in your kick, and its the smoothest pedal you can get for that price. personally if i haven't bought my dw7002 i would have bought the peace velocity nitro drive.

for some reason, i'm okay with my pearl eliminators but when i play on some dude's crummy 50 bucks pedal that is seemingly so old that the brand logo has worn out, i can actually play a lot better and faster. Does anyone feel the same at some point in their lives?
