This is an interesting thread. I've seen guys at gigs playing fenders and epiphones but cant play more than 3 chords, but are too rich and spoilt that they get whatever they want from their parents.... I've seen people play at gigs with good gear, but suck .... However, some guys like jesters tears' mizi first guitar was a samick strat he got then he upgraded to a ventage and now a 2nd hand ibanez ..... But i've heard him play stuff from malmsteen and metallica using that gear and sounding phenomenal .... So to be honest, i conclude that the world is screwed.

yea man definitely the first one. i've seen pple with PRS's, jems, gibson les paul's etc, who don't live up to their guitar's name. so yea, first one.

i think i would take the first option^^ its better that you know how to play then one with all the gears with knowledge how to play.

but i have a better answer to your question...a good player with limited budget can get along by buying 2nd hand good guitars from all the players who just buy good guitars and finally quit^^

i ain't really a good player yet but my guitar is good 2nd hand Cort Hiram Bullock signature and my effect is a used GT6.

That's one kinda people i dun like too. If all they wanna do is play 3 chords, get a kapok guitar. save the money. I feel damn jealous cos i have to work so hard to get an entry level, and see others asking parents to get them high end stuff. At least my entry level axe suits my entry level skills.

I dont think so, cause somehow or other they have the money to get the stuff, and so long as they didnt steal it i shouldnt see why other people should be envious.

If you work your socks off to get a guitar but cant play well, what business is it for others to bash you? Its YOUR guitar after all. If he has the means to afford it legitimately, i do not see why the quality of the gear has to match your skill

some people may call it a mismatch or sorts but in the end, theres nothing to be jealous about. If you have the skill to play guitar well, i dont think you would be moaning about why you dont have expensive gear.
