1st time trying to install pickups, but have prior experience uninstalling, so please be patient with me
i'm trying to change the pickups on 1 of my guitars now. i managed to take out the 2 duncan designed humbuckers, the next step is to install 2 other humbuckers (a seymour duncan and a dimarzio).
i read the seymour duncan wiring instructions and it said that the red and white wires from the humbucker are to be soldered together (simple, understood), GREEN = GROUND while BLACK = HOT. now here's where the confusion starts:
i have noted that on my stock duncan designed pickups, the green wires for both humbuckers are wired to the pickup selector toggle. so in this case green should be HOT and not GROUND, am i right? or is it the other way round?
is green = ground = solder to pickup selector switch? i thought it should be HOT that is soldered to the pickup selector switch? or do the green and black wires serve the opposite purpose when it comes to duncan designed vs seymour duncan?
ps: i tried google with no success on this particular situation.
