hi guys, i am new here and would like to ask some qns on sax.

I would like to take up lessons on it but have no idea where have affordable yet good lessons in singapore ( other than yamaha). and also

should i get a sax before the lesson or consult the teacher before getting one.

How do you judge if a 2nd hand sax is good? because i read on the net that one have to test the sax before getting it but i have no basics on it therefore would like to know what should i do?

Thanks in advance

Hi!

For lessons, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to take graded exams, i suggest you go to a personal instructor. Many of them around. Yamaha would be pop, i think?

As for the sax, i would suggest you learning the basics first and knowing the instrument. Then you will know what to look out for in it. If the teacher recommends you an instrument, just take it into consideration because it might not be the best instrument for you. Sometimes they just want the commission. As for testing, check the instrument's intonation. Check that there are no sticky keys and the workmanship should be there. You must feel good with the instrument. Accent music sells second hand saxes, check out their website. Some school band shops stock up on condemned instruments. Not recommended but worth a try.

Or you can look out at the buy and sell section. I'm selling one now:p
