hi, i'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

i'm just beginning to learn electric guitar and i am looking for some advice on which starter kit to get.

From Luther Music:
Behringer V-tone
15-watt amp and strat shape guitar
$218

From Davis Guitar:
SK or Sx (i can't remember)
strat shape - $195 les paul shape - $238 (double humbucker)
10-watt amp

if you have any other starter kit recommendations plz let me know. or if u recommend buying a SECOND-HAND "proven" brand eg.Ibanez, Fender etc. can you plz recommend me some models which are less than $300 bucks?(i'm only a student and my total budget for amp and guitar should not exceed 400)

Any help is much appreciated. thanks

I wanna sell my ibanez Jumpstart. Haha, but still dun wanna let go. Its plays fine. haha

I'm not sure bout those packages u mention but i second my Ibanez jumpstart. Good one to start with. I remembered paying $350 for a GRX40 red colour guitar and a 10W amp. They gave picks, a strap(useless), and allenkeys and this ibanez case... cant remember.

i recommend the Epiphone beginner pack in Swee lee

normal epiphone lp special is about 600 and this one is 460 along with oher goodies.

if this is your first electric guitar, you'd knock yourself silly for choosing a floating/ locking vibrato unit, which the GRG270 features. however, if you have given it enough thoughts & are willing to learn the intricacies of a locking vibrato, the aforementioned model is a decent start. however, do not expect immaculate return to pitch with that vibrato...

on another front, if you wish for less hassle but demand good playability/ tone from your Ibanez, i'd say the SA120 would make a splendid start for you.

if it'll help you decide, i would be reviewing the above SX guitar package soon 8) check out GEAR NEWS 2005...
