Question about guitar action.

I heard rumors that changing string can make the distance between the string and the neck smaller.

Can it? I thought there is no way to change the action

you can't reduce string action (the distance between the string & fret wire) by merely replacing them. you can lower the action via the action adjustment feature of the guitar- different bridge types, different action adjustment features.

I've juz lowered my acoustic bridge for a lower action by filing it..sandpaper n penknife..aha..i dun hav a more complicated tool..was experimenting..lolz..but it was great..

Juz dat..i was so into LOWER action,i filed the part dat's between the headstock and fret 1..and it was simply my luck dat i cut it too low,it cannot be used anymore..lolz..decided to throw dat away..now having difficulties of searching dat part in shops..i asked for it at Swee Lee Sims Drive and the salesperson actually laughed..huh..

If anyone noe where it's being sold at, do tell me..Thanks..

and a word of advice,
lowering juz the bridge would be enough..dun be too ambitious like me..lolz..

haz_flow, its called a nut, the thing that strings rest on near the headstock. saw it once at a guitar shop at bras basah. its at the corner. not swee lee, blackwood or ranking. its like less popular =p. haha. forgot the name. should be on the same floor.

I got the bone guitar nut at Standard Value. It supposed to be better than the normal plastic ones.
