PRS custom 24...

a stripped PRS Custom24 solid opaque colour costs about $3k+ near $4k. One with full options cost about mid $4k+ to $5k. Artist Package is a lot more expensive.

Theres always the second hand market, look around second hand should cost around 2.5 K around there, ...

Theres always the PRS standards or CEs, if u cant afford the custom. U have to try tho each one has a unique tone of its own. Theres a CE24 at music factory in emerald green i think ard 1.6 is u can test that one coz the neck profile n pups are similar to custom 24. Note PRS have different neck carves, so you might wanna get one that u like. Mine (SAS) has the wide-fat carve which is more gibson like although is not as thick. Theres also a regular (fender) and wide thin carve (ibanez). Custom 24 comes in either regular or wide thin.

wow S$1600???

I think so ok might be more, but i dun think itll hit 2000 as new is 2950, its at the same place as guitar gallery, level 4 i think, its a second hand guitar shop. CE 24 second should retail around 1500-1700sgd based on Ebay, and the birdsandmoons.com (PRS forum). I snagged my SAS with flame maple neck for 2000 sgd second hand, so PRS deals are there to be found juz need to search. Anyway am saving up for me second PRS hehehe addicted oledi.l

cool man , thanks so much for the info! will keep a lookout on it!

i think i saw the green one at musicfactory... its a CE24... not pre 95... and the body is very very badly chipped... its painful to see the damage man...

$1.6k is attrocious.

Actually you guys might want to hold on to and wait for the 20th Anniversary CU24, especially if you're looking for a new piece.

the 20th anniversary, has a unique birds inlay pattern and custom colours. Its a good deal actually as they dont cost more than a normal custom, mabbe 100-200 more and they will sure appreciate in value as its only made for a year. U can order from davis i guess. Cu24 is a great guitar but my GAS is the PRS hollowbody,.... sluuurp...

somehow id recommend a prs ce24 rather than a cu24. firstly i feel that the maple neck + mahogany body is a friggin gd combination which makes it very middy n slighty brighter than the cu24 which sports both mahogany neck n body which is very much similar to a gibson ( pardon me but im not a big gibson fan due to the thick n inaccesible neck joint and only 22frets )

anyway the ce24 doesnt come with bird inlays but if u noticed (pls dun try this at davis, he will flay the flesh from ur bones) if u actually use ur fingernail n scratch de inlay its very soft n can be damaged easily cos its real shell. so my theory is de bigger de inlay the bigger the chances of damaging it.

anyway i feel that the ce24 is sumwhat fairly maybe a little overpriced but a solid n worthy investment n i strongly recommend a new unit. i havent regretted buying it tho it costed a bomb. anyway nows de rite time to go shop for prs cos davis is really over stocked with 'em. whee. best is to go down n let ur ears do de judging :D :D

Actually another underrated guitar in the prs stable is the SAS, (the one i have). The swamp ash body and maple neck combination will give a more fendery tone, but the PAF like hums will give the thick gibson sound. A real mid point fender-gibson tone. It has an extra coil in the middle and its spilttable. Will give a very good range of quality tones. Am also not really into customs. But its a great guitar nevertheless.

The ones at davis with the 3 P90s are the custom soapbar model not an SAS. It has a mahogany with maple body and a maple neck. Which is discontinued already. SAS comes with swamp ash body and maple neck. Mine is 1997 fist year that the SAS was introduced. Id love to get the custom soapbar as well, mabbe a few years down. Guess am a PRS freak hahaha. But am still dreaming about the hollowbody hehehe.

ahaha. same here. im oso a prs freak. first set eyes on them when i saw mark tremonti using one. im hoping maybe to get more 24 fret models from different series.

Well, am a believer of the 22 frets, partly because i dont use the last 2 frets of the 24, and i believe they sound juz a bit better in terms of tone. IMO.I also love the wide fat neck profile, the 24 fretters comes in either regular or the wide thin profile. But yeah to all his own. :p
