Hi guys,

Recently I've noticed that there was something strange with my guitar neck:

The bottom end is protruding out. Is this normal? Its an Epiphone LP Special II

Thanks in advance!

Looks pretty normal to me. May be over shimmed. Do you find any buzz/ dead frets when playing?(ESP at higher frets)

What does over shimmed mean? Yeah theres some fret buzz at higher frets. Lowest my action can go is 0.5cm though. Where can I bring my guitar to get it set-up?

Hmm, I'm not too sure in this case, but usually a shim refers to a thin piece of hard material, can be wood, can be plastic, that is placed in between the neck and the neck pocket to raise the lower end of the neck for neck pockets that are too deep.

a shim need not be an excessively hard/ stiff material. i have a cardboard piece in the pocket of my tele as seen above. if it's too hard, it'll dent the wood on both the pocket & neck surface.

if your guitar features a tune-o-matic bridge, a tilted neck is normal.

check if the bolts are tightened or loose.

however if there is no problem with the neck (no dead spots or buzzing), shouldn't be a problem.
