Learn the solos that don't go that high? Something like the solo at the back of welcome to the jungle maybe.

Or concentrate on other techinques first? Tapping?

well you can always try n transponse the solos to lower positions. that's what i used to do when i was without my electric

i can't hear a thing when i tap using my acoustic.. hmm yeah transpose the tabs to a lower fret.. it may sound weird but it does the job.. same predicament as you.. hafta wait till o's ends..

I think the problem lies with either strength or technique. I think. It's definitely not impossible to tap on an acoustic. Yep.

i think Timothy has shown us at the 1st soft outing what amazing tapping skills he can do on an acoustic.

(here's the time where James should surprise us with that video of him tapping away... hehehe)

bin4christ: some of the most excellent guitar technics moves only from fret 0 to fret 12. If you can't reach the higher octaves, fret not. I agree with fored and strat .... try to learn solos that are within your limits .... or even transpose them with fret 1 to 12.

In my opinion, learning a solo will only make you an exellent player in that song ... or maybe similar song. It's important to learn from examples, but it's far more important to learn the mechanics driving it. Practice your basics ... example, 15 positions of major scale in 12 keys, different inversions for chords, etc. Draft out a practice routine where you will do again and again .... play from slow to fast. You will be surprised how fast you can improve from merely an acoustic .... takes discipline.

Ok ... maybe you already know all these ... but just in case. :)
