Problem with my bass

when i play on the lower frets ( 1st - 5th ) on almost all the strings, there will be fret buzz. What do you think is the problem and how should i fix it? Also, when i slap the lower strings, i get no sound out of it as it hits the fret and makes a metallic sound.

P.S : how much would a professional set-up cost?

you prb have forward bow. just loosen the strings, and tweak the truss rod.

Actually, it sounds like the neck is bowing backwards, not forward. Loosen ur truss rod to balance the tension. If you are not familiar with doing it, I'd recommend that u either find some resources on the net and follow it patiently or get a qualified guitar tech to adjust it for u.

which is forward bow (inwards) or back bow (outwards)? i always get them confused.

i've loosened the truss rod 1/4 of a turn.. maybe i'll wait a day and inform you guys on the fret buzzing. i'll try raising the saddles too. anyone has an idea how to do that?

thanks fretless6 and rottenramone for their kind advice. i wouldn't risk trying to tweak with my bass too much.. so how much would a shop charge for tweaking/repairing of a bass?
