Anyone know of dealers for Presonus in Singapore? I checked the Presonus website and they listed 2 distributors bt I doubt they take small orders...

What I do know is that Steinberg Media Technologies (Singapore) is expensive for Presonus products.

Their Firestation is still listed as being on special offer at $1299 (UP$1799!) at their website when US retailers are blowing it out at USD$499. Still less then Sing$1k with shipping.

I bought the MOTU 828 mk ii instead for a little more because of
1) 24/96 capabilities (the dated Firestation is 24/48 )
2) 20in/out (the Firestation is 8in/8out - using the digital i/o disables 1 pair of analog i/o)

Hung Bros dont carry Presonus Sound cards...Better go for Motu 828 Mk II as lowjk said...better and more inputs...

Yes they do. Nearly got one from there as well. The good thing about the newest bunch of firewire interfaces is that they are definitely more bang for the buck compared to the older ones like the motus. Like the presonus ADDA convertors are supposedly better than any on the market within that price range. For motu should wait for their new traveller product to hit. But they're always so ridiculously expensive, and there's very mixed reports out there about drivers and support.

So far though because it's a new product the presonus firepod (assuming you're looking at that) has only favourable reviews.

The Firepod has a different set of features compared to the MOTU 828 mk ii.

Get the Firepod if one is doing a lot of live recording using microphones since it compared with 8 high quality mike preamps. But it is limited in terms of input. Only 10 in. Uses wall wart and power supply is NOT universal. NOT powered by Firewire.

Get the MOTU 828 mkii if you are into recording keyboards. I did away with a mixer since it can do 20 in (via analog, ADAT & SPDIF). Powered with universal power supply. (yes you can buy it in AMerica and use it here). No wall wart power supply.

Comments on the MOTU Traveller.
1) Very high definition converters 24/192 but reservations about a laptop hard disk ability to keep up. May need additional external firewire drive.

2) can be powered by Firewire but is unlikely to be used in this manner with a laptop since most laptops use a 4 pin Firewire connection which does not supply power. Still need a wall wart DC power supply which is NOT included in the package. Positioning of the MIDI interface and power supply connection is awkward.

Hope this little discussion helps someone make up his/her decision regarding which to purchase.

But the 828 can't really do simultaneous 20 inputs right? That's just a marketing ploy just like the firewire 410 doesn't really do 4 inputs simultaneously.

Referring to the Mk i or ii ?

The original 828 mk i does 18 in/out simultaneously at 24/48.

The Mk ii can do 20 in simultaneously
10 analog in (2 mik in)
8 ADAT in
2 SPDIF in

Infact Presonus was the one who disappointed me when I found out the Firestation was 8 in/out despite having 8 analog in and 1 pair of digital in/out.
