Hi guys need some recommendation and opinion. Looking for a practice amp for homeplay. Preferably 6inches and below. And must have headphones out. No need effects coz getting multi fx and pedals. Currently in love with the zt lunchbox jr after trying it, shocked by the amount of punch it can give for such a small package. But before getting it i wanna see whats in for the other brands.

Vox ac4tv mini (not sure if stores still have stock for this but would be great because its valve)
Roland micro cube( is a choice but when i tried the bigger cube last time dont really like it)
Vox mini3( gen 2 coming out soon)

Am i missing out any? Thanks.

hmm shall try the yamaha later or tmr...

hmm i wan headphones out for night use...day i can blast it all out haha

dun really have a budget tbh....currently plans is to pair the amp with a zoom g3 or korg a3000x and a mesaboogie throttle box....so the amp must be pedals friendly can le.....

sounds like you can benefit from a single channel, clean, tube amp. if you can still find Marshall's 1W anniversary models, that'd be good :-)

Just get the lunchbox jr. Clean sounds really gd, easily transportable if u get the case for it as well. With the 12v battery pack you can even bring it for picnics! Great with pedals and maintenance free as compared to tube amps.

Alternatively if you're planning on purchasing multi-effects with amp modelling, you might want to skip the guitar amp altogether and get a roland cm30. Ifhttp://www.rolandus.com/products/details/663/507

You don't want to put a model or in other words a simulation of an amp into another amp. As it just won't sound good or get the desired effect. Hence the use of a monitor instead.
General guideline: Want to use amp simulation on effect pedal, use a pa monitor. Want to use a normal guitar amplifier, switch off amp simulation on effect pedal.

hmmm the marshall is out due to its speaker size....really dont wan anything above 6.5 inch...

interesting shall look up into a pa system.....though if i can get valve amps at 6 inch size which is sadly the discont ac4tv mini i will get it immediately!

i understand your needs but smaller speakers do not manifest an inviting tone, regardless if it's a tube unit. if your concern is volume/ wattage, then address that instead of 'size'...

Actually size really was the issue lol.....with floorstanders and subwoofer in my room my parents would be mad over it...but after much negotiations 8 inch max! So what options do i have?? So far i went to try the 6 inches really cant give that heavy grunt tone....i tried the vt20+ and was like omg dam awesome so many features with a build and attenuation and best of all it has pre tubes....other choice is ht-1r.....what else should i take a look at for heavy metal

wah i so paiseh moderator attending to me haha! speaker size 8 inch max and as compact as possible =D thanks alot for your help

Yamaha THR 10.
Dont dismiss this solid state yet! Coming from a guy who used tube amps for the past 8 years with 'boutique pedals'. (pardon the tongue in cheek comment)

Can get you the mesa/jcm/plexi/vox/fender sound at a really low and manageable volume. Better than any of my pedals when played at bedroom level! (Paul C. Tim, OCD, Jetter Red/ Purple). Okay maybe not a logical and fair comparison per se, but you get the idea.
Whats interesting is that the sound is played through 2 stereo full-range hifi speakers instead of guitar speakers, and because of that the reverb and effects sound damn good. The speakers are intended to have a shorter 'throw' range hence, you can just place it a metre or so in front of you and practice.

You can also play your iPhone music through it. There is an iPhone app, 'THR session', which allows u to slow down songs, change pitch, remove the guitar or bass parts and play along.

Its also unique in that it has a preamp gain knob, power amp gain knob which really reacts like a tube amp(compress the sound like it should), on top of a 'Master volume' which alters the volume and not the response/tone per se.

I sold my fender tube amp after that. And i don't even use my pedalboard anymore at home.
Seriously one of the best purchase i've made in my guitar pursuit.

Hi noobzpro, I might be too late since your thread was a month old, I agree that the Yamaha THR10 is one of the best, I got a THR10X, really awesome, and beside that I've got 2 tube heads, for bedroom practice THR wins hands down.
