Guess choices and matchings are all based on personal preferences.

For H-S-H, I prefer Dimarzio Air Norton-HS2-Super Distortion for rock,
S-S-L, I like Seymour Duncan Vintage-Vintage-'59.

Just my personal preference. What about yours? :)

agree.

also, do not dismiss vintage output units to be incapable of pulling off a metal-type tone. Duncan's Alnico II Pro/ Lil' 59 & Dimarzio's PAF models have very interesting agressive tone on offer if you have a suitable amp to supplement them with.

Hmm... I tried PAF Pro on a basswood guitar and was disappointed...
But Alnico II Pro...they're beautiful! and I love them, both the neck and bridge position!...
Never tried Lil'59 though...

Yes, indeed they are your own choices for pickups. Just trying to provide information. Because I have seen situations where putting two otherworldly pickups together created a muddy kinda sound. Or so I heard.

i dislike the PAF Pro personally, tried it in many guitars (Ibanez)- very repulsive. but i gambled on the PAF & it paid off. one of the best for heavy tones.
