poll: what u want in a studio

lol guys a crazy thought went through my head earlier when i was told that one of the retail spaces opposite my home had an affordable rental rate.... i actually thought of renting the place and set up a studio!!! Hm upon second thoughts i figured that it would be reasonably feasible.... but I dunno what would make you guys wanna come back to my "studio" for practice, or what would help feel up the business during off peak hours.... kekee.... drop a note to say what u would wan in a jamming studio!

hmm .. gd equip(dun exactly need top end stuff lar .. ) and reasonable rates .. of cos location plays a part ! regarding customer service , man ., i know u will do a very gd job in that area.

how about having a loyalty customer reward...for eg if u jam 20 times u get a discount or something? Which i think none of the studios have this... And also how about having fender amps and vox amps instead as most other studios have the marshalls and peaveys...so this will make ur studio stand out...

he he i thought of that too lol.... jam 20 times get 1 or 2 hours free lol.... but hours only claimable before 6 on weekdays? lol will that suck keke i did my costing... it'd probably be beyond my means to have more than 2 rooms in the shop... do u guys like a studio with many rooms? or those with only one room will suffice?

actually the location i was talking about is this building called selegie center the building next to peace center he he... does a cafeteria or a bar or some gathering place/late opening hours for rockers also appeal to you jammers???

well .. selegie .. yea.. of cos .. gd location i feel .. near to dhoby ghaut and also serangoon road .. can always go for a briyani before jamming ..

of cos a cafe would be appealing .hah.. but man . .gd rates gd location and gd equipment .. i feel most impt ..

the location part .. is quite ok .. well for me ah .. cos i got a direct bus .. but considering the face its near serangoon and dhoby ghaut .. should be ok .. from little india mrt .its a very fast walk . from dhoby ghaut .hmm .probably ard 10 mins .. lil ahead of park lane.

yea.. 14 to 15 bucks an hr is cool .. maybe could start with a play 2 hr get 1 hr free... i feel 4tones idea of 1hr jam get 1 hr free is gd lar .. but .i put myself into the shoes of the owner.. (man .. nash ! u are 1 nice guy ! )
its like not too nice for us to jam 1 hr and get an hr free lar .. i feel quite bad .

ha ha honestly am contemplating it.... it's only a rental of 500 per month

1 month deposit + 1 month rental = 1k
4 X cheap guitars = about 800?
2 X cheap bass = about 500?
2 X drum sets = 1.6k?
Soundproofing = 2000 for 2 average sized rooms
4X guit amps = 4k?
2X bass amps = 2k....

i think agak 20k with miscellaneous utilities etc would be safe to be in operation liao.... kekee
but if wan a cafe within the area would mean more capital and licensing i think lol

but then again charging 15/hr how long before i recover 20k? :?

u can learn from 4tones. by far the best jam studio. cause of the ambience. The moment u go in, u feel like u're at home. Also nazri very friendly to us too.

u forgot keyboard amp. maintance, promotion, etc etc. this is business, promotion very important.

hm... interior designing u mean? with nice couches etc? i never been to many jamming studios... and i dun dare ask 4tones too lol, cos if i really go into this, wouldnt i be like cheap to rip off someone else and try to snatch business?

btw, any other people who'd like to go into this can pm me he he i think capital about 15k each person enuff liao for a small project like this

actually from my calculations i already made a 10k allowance for everything that i may have left out already... ha ha but promo wise i dun think so extensive and expensive A&P should be used for something as small as this... probably will advertise on soft!

most impt would be a gd sound sys - good amps(keyboard , guitar , bass) mics etc ..

2nd would be .. size ah .. let bands move ard .. aha

welll .. i tink i would be willing to pay up to 17-18 ah .. tink its ok .. depends on the equipment lar ..

judging from ur pattern ..hmm .. i tink the equipment will be not bad 1 lar .. got faith in ya man !!

IMO after yrs of jamming, to me most impt thing for a studio now is its room size and the acoustics of the room. The room has to be gd enough to nicely fit a 3 man to a 7 man band with ample spacing to stand comfortably and so to avoid feedbacks caused by standing too near to an amp..

Also I would go with a studio with a high powered PA system so my poor vox wont be needed to scream and shout in order for her to hear herself and to cut through the overall band's mix.. Studios nowadays have so much powerful guitar amps and stuff but when it comes to the PA they seem to neglect the importance of getting a high powered one..

judging from my pattern eh?... he he at preliminary planning stage la nioo matter how i calculate will still make loss unless all softies come support around the clock lol.... maybe i should just take this as a really expensive hobby and make this a member/friends only club lol

lol i said members/friends only club becos this thing hit me to be pretty cool as a hobby that can generate a "little income".... ha ha the vacant shop is just directly opposite my home.... then since i dun have that much money to make this a really full hit, maybe it can be nice as a little cosy members only club eheh
