Hi guys,

I got a mint-condition Les Paul copy with gold hardware some few months back. Right now the gold parts are starting to develop a slightly rusty look (despite constant wiping after playing; BTW my hands sweat like rain). Any advice on how I should polish the thing?

Thanks a lot in advance.

oh man i got the same on my guitar, i tried toothpaste(yes i heard it works lol), shines it up a bit but, didnt take off all the rust. you might want to becareful if you dont want to take off gold paint tho

use those guitar hardware restorer...

i believe fender sells these guitar care products.

it can restore an oxidised/tarnished gold bridge tailpiece to its former glory!!

Thanks a lot guys! I'll ask around the shops for what ChanMin suggested. Will let you guys know how it works.

Gold parts - its an inherent part of life that they will tarnish..the only gold parts that didnt tarnish were the fnder strat chrome saddles which I sent to my friend's shop and got it 18K gold(ed) ... but it costs though...

Just use rifle oil. Heard its a good cheap alternative. I would think so too but have yet to try.

rifle oil??? wth.

anyway, thanks for the tips to restoring the metal wares to their former glory. but wht about ways to prevent the metal wares from tarnishing? or ways to at least delay the tarnishing effect?
