Another way to learn accompaniment comping could be to ask your rhythmn guitarist friend (if you've got any) to teach you some rhythmns, then try and copy on the keyboard. I've got a rhythmn guitarist friend who knows some music theory. She managed to play accompaniment on a keyboard pretty fast. About a couple of weeks.
