Hi guys, just found out about this song called Start by Japanese acoustic guitar duo Depapepe. The song can be found on youtube http://youtube.com/watch?v=DAvejpRYsQM

I found the guitar pro tabs on youtube and I've been having some problems trying to play the "chorus" part. According to guitar pro and the sound, it seems that some strings need to be muted while there are octaves being playing. Can somebody guide me on how the fingers should be places on the guitar to obtain that sound? Currently I'm using index finger on the lower note and little finger an octave high. This way I only seem to have control over the first 3 strings and the last 3 strings are still ringing away which is really irritating and my little finger gets burn after a short while. So if you guys could like take a look at the video and offer some advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Couldn't spot the part you were talking about... maybe tell the time section it is in in the video? (From what minute to what minute)

I finally understand what you mean... The octaves is something like this tab right? --> XX6X9X (X means muted string)

Well, the trick is to strum the 3 (or 4) strings only. The mute the string in-between by slanting your finger abit. The first string can also be muted by slanting your finger.

And yes, your fingering using index finger and pinky is correct. Though when you play higher up the frets, you can change to using index and ring finger.

On a side note, another song which also uses octave is Muse's Hysteria. :)
