planning to change the fretboard...

Hi, I'm currently using a rally gl-400 and been playing it for awhile now. I noticed due to my long fingers I find it quite constricting to play my guitar especially while standing up. so I'm wondering whether I should change my fretboard to a much bigger and thicker ones? I really like this guitar but is it worth paying extra for the change? oh and does anyone know where and how much it will cost me? by the way the neck is "set in". Wonder if replacement is possible?

if you really mean fretboard, then i'm pretty sure its possible...but it'll probably cost the same price as the guitar...

overall...just get use to the guitar...seriously, the guitar can't change but you can =D

so cheesy...

EDIT: sorry..my bad, you probably meant the whole neck...cos you can't have a larger wider finger board which is larger than the neck...

Nope, as long as its set in, no changing anything...

how is it u find it constricting to play standing up with long fingers?? i thought it should be easier since u have more reach. furthermore, with the lp being a 24.75 inch scale, its even easier to stretch across the frets. kindly enlighten me if i've read wrongly somewhere :???:

With long fingers, you can play any guitar, and be twice as good as one with ham digits twice as fast. So work with that guitar and don't give excuses!!!

No no kidding, just get used to it. A Les Paul is not the best for folks with Paul Gilbert hands, maybe in the future you could consider a Ibanez RG series or a big stonking C Necked Strat.

Trust me when I say I know how you feel..I have abnormally long fingers (and thumb) myself and starting out it didn't "feel right" but whats important is to practice more and find that comfortable spot for your fretting hand..also, try varying the height of the guitar? dont aim for the 'low-slung rocker' look which may make your playing uncomfortable. Sometimes the higher, more 'reserved' look might actually be better!
