Planet Waves Electric Guitar Cable

yeah I'm using the circuit breaker cables by Planet Waves. Quite convenient for changing guitars on the go, don't really need to switch off the amp before unplugging it, just press the button to break the circuit and pull out the plug. It prevents those unpleasant grating sounds when the plug isn't connected and you slot it into another guitar.

I use the angled plugs on my Ibanez SZ320MH, works well and doesn't give me any problems :)

Bought it for around $25 at Sweelee, I think most shops sell it around that price, Music Plaza has it for $27 I think.

Apart from the convenient this cable offered, do you find any improvement in terms of sound quality? :)

Haha couldn't really tell the difference in the sound quality actually, most guitar cables give the same sound unless your ears are super-super-super-sensitive and can hear the minute differences. I read a article somewhere once which said there was minimal difference between the high priced Monster cables with all the fancy gold plating and normal mid-priced cables. So as long as the cable as of sizable thickness and doesn't feel like it's gonna break apart any minute, then it should do.

 hahahahah.... I see. So there will not be any major improvement in sound quality.

What perplexed me is, there are always this people who spend 50 dollars and above on a guitar cable with little or none improvement to sound quality. Isnt that a waste of money... hee hee.. okay okay. thanks for the inputs.. :smt017

I never think it's a waste of money in spending $50 on a cable.

If (yes, a big IF), my guitar is already an expensive guitar with superb pickup, and I supposedly use great amp, I would not think twice to get best cable on the market.

$50 is peanut if you have those expensive gear.

Eh! Let me put it this way, I do understand the rational of having a good PICKUPS replacement. With good pickups, you do get the sound improvement.

With Expensive Guitar gear, yes, i do undertand, the quality of wood will make each guitar sound unique.

But for Cable, isnt that a little unnecessary... if, say, spending more than 50 dollars on it. Of course, if you have the money, you are always welcome buy the most expensive one.

What i am getting at is, will there be any difference between a cheap guitar cable with a really expensive one? Because i, myself is thinking of getting a good guitar cable.. okay.

Good quality guitar cable does help in projecting a clearer and less "noise" factor in the tone.

But it's definitely not better in the sense of few hundreds of even just $50 dollars...

To have good quality cable, good pickups, good guitars, good amps and noisy effect pedals, it's back to square one.

The point is, everything in the chain counts and it's not being measured in term of cost.

Imho

actually, a good quality cable is MORE important than good pickups and expensive guitar.

the sound that you get is the result of your whole setup. and the quality of the sound depends on your weakest link, not your strongest link.

Bad guitar -> bad cable -> amp = bad tone.
bad guitar -> good cable -> amp = slightly better tone.
expensive good guitar -> bad cable -> amp = bad tone.

of course, $50 for a cable is a little too expensive imo. :P Quality Patch cables in ur effects chain + 2 good quality cables would suffice.

Dunno how true the three examples are. But it sounds really convincing, at least to a newbie like me... hee hee... :smt030

There must be a reason for a cable to cost that much. First and foremost, the quality should be at high standard. Sometimes the brand alone is the causing factor for the cable to be that expensive just like GIBSON - Les Paul.

Any suggestion as to where and what kinda brands of Cable should i buy that will give me a good tone with average pricing, in between 10 dollars to 40 dollars??

Will this Planet Waves -- THE CIRCUIT BREAKER™ CABLES do the job??

the Circuit Breakers are reasonably high quality, as with some of the other brands mentioned...

for me i've been using Horizon cables and they're good enough for me... also mentioned are George L patch cables to connect effects..

just be sure not to get unbranded cheap cables in those packs of 10s. most of the time u're just wasting ur money and they spoil easily as compared to the quality cables which last longer.

also be sure to buy only the length that you need... long cables will suck tone, no matter how high quality they are.

Yo! Thanks dude. You are another Subversion, pinpointing the pro and con of each products. I find it very informative... short and concise. again thanks. You RULE!!!!! :supz:

I am using the normal Planet Waves cables. Not the circuit breaker one. Its good, much much more durable then the other cables you find outside.

Since a few of you are using it now. I think its quite a safe bet to buy this cable.

Thanks for the input. :smt023
