Any dimarzios or SD to introduce? Currently using Ibanez RG550EX. H/S/H config. Friends recommend me with Steve's Special on bridge. HS-2 on middle, and PAF Pro on neck.
Anyone have other pickup info to share? Thanks. : )
If u want Iron Maiden's tone then best bet is to go with a DiMarzio's Super Distortion in the bridge! But dont expect to get great cleans with that though.
But if u want a versatile sounding guitar then I recommend this set up:
Steve's Special - Bridge
Fast Track 1 - Middle
Air Norton - Neck
Thats what I used to have when I had the same guitar as u..
Fender has an official Iron Maiden Strat released in 2001. the guitar features a Seymour Duncan JB Jr in the bridge & Hot Rails (mid/ neck). maybe this is the cue...
Steve's Special, from some feedback, it seems this pup has an overly high end that needs to be balanced by a good amp. One of John Petrucci's favourite pup, but don't expect to get his sound though, unless you have his rig.
Hmm subversion do u know if any stores in SG like guitargallery or sweelee selling? The guitar looks very cool, looks abit like my RG though. Galaxyblack but with some nice designs on it and a silver pickguard.
the Fender Iron Maiden strat is a japanese model, i've not seen one here though. try ask if Luther can help you order it. it's a limited edition model, don't be too disappointed if production has ceased...
the Dimarzio-Ibanez pairing is kinda inevitable but Duncan works as well with ibanez. my ibanez guitars have Duncan mostly...
hey bro why not tweak ur effect to get the tone...
btw u try to nail Murray or Adrians tone?
They r both diff tone.....i`ll just go for a ds1 and a boss t-wah for maiden tone... as for pickup..duncan JB or dimarzio Super distortion is a gd pickup..other options are duncan distortion (Randy Rhoads fav pu) or X2N
Super high gain pu...
Im using Proco Rat2. With marshall amp AVT-20... Morley wah though. Pro series II. Pickups was thinking to change to steve's special on bridge. Neck with PAF pro and HS-2 on mid.
24-fretted Fender eh? it's a rare sight but this model is currently available: Highway1 Showmaster HH
active pickups have higher output (because it has its added source of power from the battery), it's very suitable for high gain drive settings. of course, this doesn't mean passive high output units aren't cut out for this task.
