PERCEPTIO, by PMP (Singapore)

(Fringe commission. World Premiere.)

Perceptio is an audiovisual concert that investigates the state of our perception towards pollution and climate change in a local context. Perceptio combines cinematics and generative art / animation with sound and music as a whole, inseparable from one another. Collecting sound and visual samples from various parts of Singapore, these field recordings are then harmoniously combined with computer generated visuals+sounds to create an immersive experience. Perceptio journeys through different forms of invisible problems that persist in our everyday or future lives and questions our highly mediated society.

PMP is an audio-visual collective that focuses on the synaesthetic experience where sound and visuals react in real time, steering away from the notion that audio and visuals are often the by-products of one another. Started in 2009 by Ivan Felix and Bin, PMP’s music takes the form of minimal electronic music that is a fusion of computer generated sound, glitches and acoustic instruments while visually, it is highly distinctive with generative visuals that reacts or controlled in real time.

Since forming in 2009, PMP has since performed in the Fred Perry 100 year anniversary, Juice Anniversary Party and the 1 year anniversary party of Kizuki+LIM.

THIS IS TOMORROW, by Oldfish (S. Korea)

Oldfish's music spans several different genres, self-described as similar to Shibuya-kei and electronic lounge music, but also incorporating elements of modern rock and folk. Call it indietronica, folktronica, folk rock — what it amounts to is warm, soothing melodies mixed with a hint of fancy. One could say that the whimsy in the imagery associated with the band translates into the gentle, comfortable sounds of the music — not particularly provocative, perhaps, yet showcasing its own brand of diversity: Its placid indie-folk surface belies its energetic undercurrent. The sound is anchored by light electronic beats that keep the pace lively without dragging down the atmospheric, spare quality of the music.

Oldfish is the name of a Korean band comprising 5 members, at whose helm is Soda, the man behind the vocals, keyboards, producing, lyrics, mixing, and pretty much everything else. Currently signed with indie label Pastel Music, Oldfish gained notice from 2003 with Soda's live club shows in the Hongdae neighborhood, and released four mini-albums before his first full-length. The band possesses a very unique beaty electro-acoustic sound which is emotive, rich and profound.
