Pedaltrain Bracket Mounts

Hi all.

I've gotten myself a new PT JR SC.

Problem is the mounts require me to drill a hole on the PT. What do you all use to create the threads for the screw?

I went to the DIY shop but none of the drills (as said by the salesperson) can be used to drill (steel?) the material of the PT JR.

Any form of help will be much appreciated! Thanks.

You don't have to worry about threading, you can just drill the holes. Well, that's what I did, and my pp2 is well secured.

So I just get any driller, drill a smaller or just-right sized hole into the PT JR and just force the screw in with the bracket mounts?

Problem is I don't have a driller, and I'm not sure if the one I'm getting is strong enough to drill through the PT JR.

Any "technical" stuff for the drill I should know of? (Sorry not much of a DIY person here :S)

I believe the instruction sheet from Pedaltrain has something about the size of the drill bit that you should use. The screws provided are self tapping, so just drill a hole and the screws will create their own threads.

Alternatively, you could just get some 3M Dual Lock and save yourself the trouble of drilling :)

Always use smaller drill bits and work your way up. I'm not sure which size I used, but I just 'eyeballed' the screw and used a drill bit that I thought was slightly smaller. I don't think you should have any problems with having the right drill either, as long as it's a powered drill, you should be fine.

And like what the dude said, you could always use 3M dual lock. I'd recommend that over drilling if you're not confident enough with a drill. And if you do decide to drill, always check, check, and recheck before you do anything. Good luck!

Can the 3M Dual Lock hold the PT JR and the PP2+ securely? Just curious as I've never used it before.

Sorry one more thing, I noticed that PT JR only has one "contact-area" with the bracket mounts.

Can the dual lock really hold it down strongly?

If you're going to use Dual Lock, don't bother with the brackets and stick the PP2+ directly onto the PT2 frame. It's secure enough.

When I place the PP2+ on the PT JR, the jacks for the power supply -> pedals get covered up, cause of a frame in front. Apparently it needs to be elevated slightly like how the mounts are holding it to be.

I just bought and installed my Trex Fuel Tank Power supply two days ago on my pedal train jr WITHOUT any drilling needed. Here's what i did ....The aluminium is very soft .. I use a sharp pointer type of screwdriver (sorry dun know its exact name) and use a hammer to punch a small dent. Then I use a screwdriver and a screw (make sure screw is one size smaller) and just screw it thru to make that hole. Thats it! Now u just need to use the pedal train screw and attach ur supply on. Hope this helps :)

It's quite straight forward bro. Follow the instructions given to locate the points to drill. Borrow a power drill from a friend, and use the right drill bit size mentioned in the instructions. Then just drill the 4 mounting holes.

Once that's done, just screw in the screws and they will naturally thread through.

You can use Rocketmans method about using a screw to bore the hole. However, if things go wrong you can risk breaking the screw head and have the rest of the screw stuck inside. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. This would be a big headache.
