Hellow all... since the drum section is currently in a "dead" mode... i'll post smth up ah...

A friend in the states recently bought a set to practise on.. and it was a pdp cx and it costed him really cheap at guitar center...

now, he's planning to sell that kit away since he already custom ordered a kit with ocdp and the kit will be arriving soon...

So now, im in need of an advice to weather go buy here at ranking, about 1.7k or buy from my friend in the states at a much much cheaper price but shipping and all that...

Here's of what i know from my knowledge:

Pros on buying from my friends at states:

1) It's Much Much Much cheaper.
2) It's still in very2 good condition.

Cons:

1) I will incur this and that taxes, and fees payable when the items reach Sg.

2) no warranty coverage

3) i will still pay bank a sum of money due to services.

4) If the drums are warped or anything, i'd make a big loss.

Pros on buying from singapore:

1) It's much more convinient.

2) Warranty coverage.

3) Comes with hardware.

cons:

1) It's too expensive (for my budget)

2) warranty coverage does not cover shipping charges back to mexico.

3) Still have to pay gst and such...

So my question to u all is, Which to choose??? and kind of steps and methods do i go about doing and incur charges if i were to buy it from the states???

regards

pdp's manufacturing company is located at mexico.

pdp will not be liable of any shipping charges incurred when sending the item back to the factory for warranty services.

-I will incur this and that taxes, and fees payable when the items reach Sg.
From what I see, only one tax applicable, GST @ 5%. Apa this and that?

-no warranty coverage
Ask your friend to check every part thoroughly, if it's good, it's good.

-i will still pay bank a sum of money due to services.
What sum of money?

-If the drums are warped or anything, i'd make a big loss.
Make sure you pack well and there'll be little chance of that happening.

What I would do?
-Give my friend a lesson in packing drums. Lots of bubble wrap, can't be too careful
-Use a shipping service like Comgateway - declare whatever amount you want, you could state that you won it on ebay for $100...

But seeing as you had a bad experience with your Rolling kit, I think better just save up and get a solid kit this time, without the risks lah :)

the rolling kit.. haha bad memories...

but for that, i physically went to indonesia and buy it on the spot...

when it came, it was just packed inside a cuboard box with cuboard on the edges to prevent it from moving around... with a fedex freight invoice taped nicely on the opening...

wah now dilemma lah... i saw the pdp, it's in good condition...

weckl, from ur experience bringing in stuff from the states using vpost, how much would a five piece kit gonna cost for shipping??

and how do the gst is charged??? the CIF is the total amount of the drums add the freight charges???

i need help..

Explain many times liao

Check the vpost thread... Nevermind, I repeat ONE more time for you bro!

How much the 5 piece will cost? Depends on how you pack it.
E.g, one could pack a 12x9 tom, inside a 16x16 floor tom, etc.
If you have the dimensions (and weight) of the boxes, you can use the vpost calculator to find out how much exactly. It's quite accurate.

CIF x 5% = GST.
CIF = Cost + Insurance + Freight (shipping)

But you could always under declare and say you won it for $50 on ebay *shrug*
