there are lots of discussion on vdrums mate. pls do a search...

rolang flagship td12 and td20 aren't cheap.. so unless u have it for the sole purpose of practise, might aswell get a cheap acoustic kit and use the money to get good cymbals, snare and diy some soundproofing in your room...

i think the price's around 6k to 7k...

there are some softies using the lower end td3 and td6-kv kit... hope they can have some input to it.

for the td-3 you can only do rimshots on the snare. but if it's for practice only, dont have to get a good one la. can consider yamaha as well. the thing i like about roland right, you can play around with the setups. the td-3 has 20+ kits and different variations of the snare, ride, cymbals, hats, bass drum, toms, and you can even add other percussion like claves or tambourine, etc. so you can mix and match to your own preference and get your own kit.

i dont like the cymbal selection on the td-3 though.

the td-3's more than enough for home practice i guess. think it's going for 2.1 or 2.2k at sweelee?

maybe you should go to sweelee and yamaha to try out both the rolands and the DTXs.

can try out alesis at luther as well - http://www.luthermusic.com/cgi-bin/WB_ItemPageGen.pl?t=1191750971&Pid=224&Gid=4010100

dont really like the cymbal pads though. if you like to use the bell of your ride a lot, this would be pretttaay sucky lol.

but if i had the cash to splash, i'd prolly get a td-20 heh. although a td-10 would be sweeeeet!

thanks marcdadrummer.
actually i hav an acoustic set...
but cldnt do much sound proofing cos i share rm with my sibling.
i wld like acoustic set too....
so was thinkin td-12 wld be a good replacement?
but wao.so expensive.

Well, i take it like this you prob have enough money for the TD-12?

Now you just gotta consider - is it worth it?

The TD-12 is really great, because the module is really good and the hihat emulation is much more realistic.
That said, the TD-12 is more of an acoustic "replacement" rather than merely a practice tool. Since you already have an acoustic, the money could be put to better use, to perhaps what the rest have suggested, like a cheaper ekit, and more acoustic additions, and SAVINGS ;)

I myself have a TD-6, and i would just say that the module of the TD-12 is WHOA. While the TD-6 sounds are nice, they sound like they are more EQ-ed, whereas when i tried the TD-12 @ swee lee it sounded more like an acoustic. Ringing included. If you get the chance, head over the bras brasah outlet and give both a try. But i don't think you'd really need such an expensive ekit, especially since you will be using more for practice. Even the TD 12 doesn't match up to a real acoustic drumset, in many areas (although it can do a lot more things than an acoustic drumset).

So just consider your needs and your wants, and your budget :) then research before you buy! and once you buy, don't regret - make full use of the thing you bought.
