"Opening" new guitar

Hi, how long does it normally take for a new sitka spruce top acoustic guitar to "open"? And how does one "open" it?

Really would like to hear from the more experienced owners here.

Thanks :D

In my opinion, I think the best way is to strum the guitar at every given opportunity. be it before heading the the fridge to grab a drink or after heading to the toilet.

the more you strum the better. not necessary to play chords/notes because the vibrations will be sent to the body as long as the strings are in motion.

no scientific proof from my side but it does make sense to me.

OK, I should just keep playing it so that the vibration will condition (open) the wood. Thank you all for the input. :D

u wanna open the top use a hack saw. band saw also can.

if u wanna season the top, everyday cooking spices would do, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, ground white pepper, corn flour.

if wanna condition it to withstand singapores high humidity u should put ur guitar in a pail of water, after that im sure it will find the air very dry.
