I started taking classical lessons last year mainly so I could learn to read music properly (I still suck at it...) but it really helped me clean up my fingerpicking technique.

I got my second grade exam coming up soon, so once again I'll be the worst player in a roomful of 10 year old prodigies all 2 feet shorter than me...

You must be quite the Zep fan since it's not exactly one of their mainstream tunes....

All nails. I been taking Classical lessons for past 9 months so I have quite long nails. Sounds much better tone-wise.

I don't know what you mean, but yes - I did get grade A in maths.

i always feel that it takes a certain lvl of mental capibility to do finger picking..its like ehh...playing the piano and u have to split yr brain into.

No lah - anyone can do it just a matter of applying yourself.

Like anything, start slow on an easy tune and you will gradually get the hang of it.

"Stairway To Heaven" is the de facto standard to learn fingerpicking as it is slow and steady and also very rewarding to play. Get yourself Led Zeppelin 4 album and a good tab of the song and I bet you can play it really well within a few days of practice.

btw - I can't sing and play at the same time, so can't be that intelligent lah!

That's why I learned to play lead guitar - that and the fact that my voice sucks.
