Hi chickenbonez00,
I'm into rock guitar instrumentals myself. Here's my comments (as always, tastes are subjective so take my views with a pinch of salt):

Among the list, "Blurry Vision" was the better one. I think it's strongest, compared to the first 3, in terms of arrangement and melody. It could use with a stronger melody though. Maybe it's something you might want to try re-working.

"Song One" seems more like an exercise in shredding. Couldn't pick out a clear melody. Maybe you could alternative between some longer single notes Vs a steady melodic tempo.

"Recoil" sounded promising. I could follow the arrangement better than "Song One". But a bit too long, unless you could put in a melody.

"Nirvana" was refreshing. Could use a melody though. Some notes seem to need quantizing.

Thanks for sharing your tracks. Overall, the tracks reminded me of what "Man Of War" might play. Just curious: what software/ gear do you use to record all that?

Cheers.

Hey thanks for listening\m/

Usually when i write stuff i have the intent of adding vocals to give melody to the song, but i dont have the gear for that, theres really alot of noise and stuff, and i cant sing. haha. So i would say these songs are somewhat incomplete in a way, cause of these reasons. Im tryin to write more guitar melodies now tho. Dunno how that'll turn out. haha

I use a roland microcube and a charvel dinky model 2, i think. Plug that in to my laptop and use audacity for the recording. For the drums i use fruityloops. Tried out guitar rig for song one, but havent really gotten used to it yet. Oh and for nirvana i used a yamaha sy35 synth.

what do you mean by quantizing?

what do you mean by quantizing?
This is what it means:
http://metmagazine.com/mag/quantization_factor/

Check this out as well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantization_(music)
"In digital music processing technology, quantization is the process of aligning a set of musical notes to a precise setting. This results in notes being set on beats and on exact fractions of beats."

BTW, there's something called "phrasing" in constructing guitar solos/ melody. I came across this term while watching a Steve Vai youtube video. Can't remember which video. But here's an article that might give you more info.
http://www.thenextstepguitar.com/lessons/phrasing1.html
Quite lengthy but read the part on how phrasing is like using pauses and inflections in a speech. I think if you listen to guitarists like Joe Satriani you'll notice he doesn't just shred but also plays with a certain style and feel.

ohh i see. Well for my track i didnt use a midi to usb cable to my laptop(cause i dont have one). Want to get one soon. But for this one i just connected the output of my synth to my line in. pretty noob. and i know there's people who manually edit the sound waves so that the notes are on the dot, but it really seems like it'll take forever to do that... and i didnt upload any cover videos dude. haha

oh and i just read the article on phrasing. Pretty intresting man. No one around me has used this term before. I guess in a way ive been trying to figure out how to do that, like convey an emotion through a solo. i know its not all about fast licks and sweeps. its pretty hard to do. now i know the proper term for this. gonna read up more on this. Thanks:D
