Nylon, or Steel?

Hi, I'm a beginer at guitar, and I have decided to get myself a Yamaha guitar, and I have gone to the shop, and there are steel-stringed and nylon-stringed guitar (which I already know). Most of my friends use nylon strings, but I prefer steel strings for the sound. I like the crisp sound from the steel-stringed guitar. But, I have a fear that if it breaks, it will hurt my eye VERY MUCH. There's something strange though, I have played the violin for like 6 years and I have never been afraid for such stuff. Can anyone help me decide??

Get the one that sounds best to your ears. If you prefer steel-string, go for the steel-string. I've had my steel strings break on me and I never had any injuries, much less to my eye. Steel is flexible to some extent, but nowhere near as flexible as a rubber band... If eye injuries happened often with steel-string guitars, then they wouldn't be as popular as they are now.

Techniques: If you can play classical guitar, you can adapt other styles quickly.
Sound: You've not heard good classical guitars before.

Generally, steel strings sounds better. I started classical guitar years ago and until today, I've never regretted it.

I love classical guitar.

i see myself in you lad. i started off with violin too. all the way till abrsm 5, then i took up guitar by self learn at the age of 15. just some words for you, for us, it'll be much easier to handle guitar as our fingers are already seasoned over time. however do keep in mind that the dimensions of the guitar is much larger. hence, do not think that the frets are some easy task, when you are already so use to a violin's small dimension. the acoustic's strings does snaps. however, you should not fret, as it is normal if you practise alot. try to change the strings every two months if you are afraid of that matter. when it snaps, then you'll understand what i mean. it doesn't really snap and fly kinda snap. thus, like i said, until you experience a broken string then, you'll eventually understand what i mean.

cheers.
