I've got a chip/broken nut at the 6th string area on a les paul type guitar. Can anyone recommend somewhere to replace/fix it? And are Earvana's any good? Thanks.

i suppose earvanas should be good. hope onto de perfect intonation bandwagon. im gonna let my prs sport de earvana when i get de means to. u can get them at guitar worshop btw. :D

How abt a tremnut from Graphtech?

I got one installed and the effect is woah...

Clearer notes and more sustain =)

ah nut replacements dun come cheap so dun lose ur nuts ya? ahaha just kidding. well u can get both nuts frm guitar workshop. last time i enquired it costs abt 90 to get de earvanas installed. trem nut im not too sure. trem nut u can also get frm maestro.

yupz the earvana's are indeed not cheap, wonder if guitar connection at excelsior does nut replacements. shall call them up tom. i'll check the alternatives thanx.

Yea GC does nut replacements. I had the nut on my strat swapped for another. Quite a good job.

so hows de intonation? is the improvement obvious? my dream is to haf buzz feiten installed on my guitar. but then it will cost a bomb n i dun recall any shops in sg doing de mod.

Hi, yeah i've actually done a couple repairs/setups at GC, they're pretty good and friendly.

But just a question, you replaced a normal nut? or some fancy ones like earvana's or tremnut? How much did they charge and how long they took? thanks.

Being an absolute Malmsteen fan i had the nut of my strat swapped to a brass one when i sent my strat in for a full refret to jumbos. The nut was 70 i think? Can't really remember, was a while back. It took 1.5 to 2 weeks approximately, time inclusive of refret job. If it's just a nut replacement it'll be much faster.

hmmm if it's so, then i suppose earvana's are a better choice for a replacement since it costs only $20 more at Guitar Workshop huh? i'll consider that.

yeah i suppose so n since its a compensated nut it boasts of better or perfect intonation. same claim as the buzz feiten mod. i think the earvana is a worthy investment esp if u r sensitive to intonation problems on guitars. i haf tt problem so i guess ill be installing one soon. too bad i cant get a buzz feiten mod. its de worlds best intonation device. but costs about 300 i think. :(
