don't get too stressed over choosing the wrong guitar , your bound to upgrade once you get the hang of the guitar real soon , over and above , you know what you want and don't want in a guitar . You cant learn all these overnight . You can try the Japanese Fenders or some ibanez's . Don't go for the squires cause they severly lack in quality

As of now, i know nothing absolutely nothing therefore i should be using tat for quite some time and i'm looking for a cheap one to learn first as i feel tat even having the best guitar or even hide's guitar, there is no point as i cant even play the basics well. so all in all, i wanna know if there are any special requirements to play X songs and if that the mocking bird is gd?

+1, don't bother with Squiers, unless they're the older ones because Squier had good quality and features back then.

I'd recommend Ibanez GIO series, though a bit pricey, since I own one and I don't have a single complaint. I think you should avoid budget-range BC Richs because from what I've heard, they're poorly made and use low-quality woods.

So to sum up, for X-Japan stuff, grab either an Ibanez GIO or an LTD by ESP. LTDs are also really bang for buck, though not so stella-sounding since at the same price they use inferior wood as compared to Ibanez GIOs. But quality-wise and pickups-wise, LTDs are bang for buck.

so how much will it cost for wad you reccommed and any sites to look for guitars prices? So all of you don't reccommed me to buy the mockingbird as shown above? i dun mind sound and wood as i just wanna learn the basics well get the chords right and maybe play some songs so i think i will be sticking wif it quite long ba.

hmm, a very safe bet would be yamaha pacifica, can't go wrong. the cheapest is around $400-$500.

do avoid the ibanez gio series. for ibanez you could go for sa120, rg321 etc.

if you're budget is really really tight, maybe you could start off by buying a classical guitar? it's cheaper than an electric guitar.

i'm more interested in electric but jus wanna buy a cheap electric to try out and learn if i get the hang den change if not i too won't feel the pain of spending too much on a instrument which i ended up not knowing how to play.

SA120 and RG321 are in the $600 range, a bit difficult for him, no?

Yes the Ibanez GIOs do show some inconsistency, though mine has never given me problems, so for GIOs, you could look for a good piece. Bringing a guitarist with you would help.

LTDs, around $300+. Soundwise, for agathis bodied guitars they sound pretty killer. At Davis guitar. But if you're really on a budget, since you said tone doesn't quite matter, you could get a starter pack. Hassle-free and ready to play out of the box.

woot...

buy starter packs... probably some from SX...
standardvalue in woodlands is selling a timbre starter pack for 200 bucks.
worth the money esp for students...

can recommend buying aria guitar too... available at ranking (bras basah) and standard value..

any sites for viewing their guitars? i would love to have a mockingbird for my 1st guitars cos they are cool looking and it's what my beloved gay used :p but they dun come cheap. =(

perhaps you should think more about the feasibility than the looks?
nice guitars don't come cheap, and you're on a budget.

Precisely. A nice Ibanez SA160, although quite cheap for a professional quality guitar, would cost more than twice any starter pack you see around, probably almost twice a GIO would cost, too. So don't think about looks for now, choose a guitar that would inspire you to improve.

I don't think the Timbre SR-200 is ideal though, X-Japan is more like glam rock / heavy metal so you'd need humbuckers (I could never like Iron Maiden's guitar tone, sound is so weak IMO). But there're some HSS Timbres also, you could check those out.

if i were you i would just buy normal stuffs.. dont buy starter packs as you would waste more money buying a better guitar and amps once you got better..
