Hey, need some help here. Iwas thinking of getting a new neck and bridge for my guitar. Its a cheap cort, its currently having a wilkinson bridge, was thinking of installing a floyd rose, but would tt mean tt I have to cut some wood to fit the floyd? any other bridges to recommend? As for the neck, was thinking of getting a 24fret neck, but I'm not too sure if all necks fit my guit. Will appreciate your help alot, thanks.

necks wont be cheap, neither will floyds... i'm not really a big fan of floyds so i've got nothing to share with you about them, however for necks, i'd think warmouth or allparts would be great... but hey, its all personnel preference yeah?

hmm..since you already said its a cheap guitar..i think most of us here would advise you to get a new guitar with those stuffs you need..then buying the parts and changing them..should be more value for money

well, if you'd wanna get something new, i'd recomand you a highway stratocaster, going for 500 plus at the swee lee sale... with its H-S-H configuration, you're almost every guitar with that guitar... of course you need to spend some money to buy humbuckers...

yes, i wld agree to what they say about getting a new guitar. it is more advisable

however, if you are really keen on upgrading this current guitar maybe cos ur really comfortable with it or sumtin, then its also possible. not all other necks would fit nicely onto your cort, your gona have to do some research on that. prob talk to the tech guys at the guitar shops and ask them what would fit. also if your changing from a 22 fret to 24 fret then the intonation of your bridge would have to be redone. ofcourse since ur getting a new bridge that wont matter. wilkinsons is a gd bridge, y do u wanna change it btw? and no, it is not really necessary u have to route out a new cavity to fit the floyd, however not doing so wld result in quite uncomfortable playing and higher action as the bridge would not be nicely leveled with the body. it'll be sticking out quite a bit. so yea, id suggest to stick to the wilkinsons bridge. btw, im modding my guitar too :D:D

Where you get the information of:
1. Highway1 strat going for $500 plus (well, don't tell me $500 plus another $500. That's lame)
2. highway1 comes in H-S-H config?

I'm modding my axe because i like the shape of the body and there is a very limited range of left-handed axes here, so i think its better that I get recommendations for mods and not for new guitars :)

They have it routed that way even though the pickguard's cut for SSS or SSH. Btw there's someone selling strat pickups of various pickup combinations on yahoo auctions.

Pardon my noobness.

Theres no such thing as highway1 to have H S H config right?

S S H yes, but H S H?

JEM Jr or RG shape will meet your requirement?

Yeah i suggest you to get a new guitar as well, investing in a cheap guitar... Is not worth i guess. Unless u really really really love it cause of sentimental values or something.

You can drop by guitar connection to check it out, they have tons of necks available. (Peninula basement, in between luther and Davis.

They are H-S-H as in in that the wood has the pickup cavitys routed to be able to house pickups like that, not implying that Fender had already installed the pickups.

Pardon my noobness.

S S H yes, but H S H?

I guess it's how you interpret it. HSH could literally mean 3 pickups there, or it could mean the actual routing configuration.
www.fender.com
The American strats have got hsh routes, but equipped with a sss pickup configuration, and in the case of the double fat, hsh route but with hXh configuration. Not all have this feature, but it's common these days.

Wait till you have to change the strings on a Floyd rose. You'll wish you never replaced the Wilkinson. What cort is it? Cort necks are pretty well made and robust and the usual Wilkinson bridges I've seen on them are extremely good.

yea man, a floyd's fun to use, but theres a price to pay for it. changing strings or gauges arent just done anytime anyhow. u'll prob take abt 6hours to change gauge. and maybe 2 to 3 hours to change strings and tune up. u were the guy at guitar workshop tdae yea?
