I've met 2 kinds of people in bands:
1) if we come up with a music idea and it sounds like something you have heard before, you think that's a sign we're moving in the right direction and you say, "that's a keeper".
2) if we come up with a music idea and it sounds like something you have heard before, you become restless. Where's the fun in, and what's the point of, doing something has so obviously been done already?
If you are more inclined towards the second one, maybe you'll be interested to play music with my friend (she plays drums) and me (I compose tunes, play a guitar-like thing and sing a bit). We would rather go onstage and make a short, awkward, but tangibly and memorably original statement, than to fill hours with well-polished OK-ness. So far, we like to work with "odd" timings and different languages, so if those things excite you, feel free to send me a message!
Respect!
