needs help to find guitar!

Hi softies,

I have been contemplating about getting a guitar and starting out on learning chords and playing a few simple songs. So the first task that I have to do is to find a decent sounding and durable guitar, at a cheap cost.

Do you guys have any recommendation what guitars are good for starting out? be it classical or acoustic.

im not too knowledgeble about classical or acoustic guitars, however i have tried a few Maestro guitars (those lower end ones) which costs ard 300-500 and they are pretty good for the money. they sound pretty decent and play well also.. at least better than most of the guitars in that price range.

You can probably get a beginner's guitar for $100 or under at Ranking Sports (Bras Basah Complex) or this guitar shop at Parklane Basement (next to Paradiz) can't remember the name...

But if you are going to pursue the hobby in the long run then you will end up upgrading. This is probably good enough for at least a few months/year, depending on how much you practise.

If your budget is a bit higher you can try the lower end Yamahas (about 300?)

Action is important, make sure you can do a barre chord on the guitar you buy. Otherwise you will feel exasperated (happened to me when I bought a $35 Kapok guitar)
