Hi Softies...

I'm currently having a Cort Electric guitar.
Thinking of moving on to a better guitar because I wanna tryout on more stuffs and this current guitar I'm having is giving me problems.
My price budget is ard $800-$1000.

and...
I've been looking around the forum and though of having an Ibanez RG350M guitar. Well, there's also some J customs series, Prestige series that I saw people selling...

May I have some Opinion J customs RG, Prestige RG and RG series?
what are the differences?
some advice would be a great help for me. =D

sorry for asking so much questions but I felt like I'm a lost sheep in the forest...

Thanks...

hi there 8-)

a 'better' guitar is subjective. i know of some budget CORT models which are much preferred in terms of playability & tone. it's all up to the individual's reception of his/ her possession as too many of us here fall into the seemingly 'more costly = better' perspective.

if you are starting out & are quite new to guitar set-up technicalities, the dual action bridges or 'floating' as some of us would refer to, are to be avoided. this is mainly due to tuning stability/ re-stringing issues.

ibanez makes some of the better mid-priced/ exclusive models however, we need to be objective when we come across the brand's offerings, it's adviseable we invest in what works for us, regardless of the price range/ upper hierarchy appeal.

pertaining to the J-Custom model, i have some reflections here: http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.com/2009/09/ibanez-rg8570.html

hi subversion

thanks for the advice but what's a dual action bridge?
anyway, I've been using my Cort Guitar for like 4 years already.
I've also change my pickups after realizing the sound ain't that satisfying.
and the reason why I wanna move to Ibanez is because it's an affordable brand that got a Floyd Rose on it like RG350M, so that I can tryout more.

well...
Everything seems to be alright until one day I drop my guitar. :(
And all problems starts to come. I'm not able to tune my guitar properly because there's some problem with my tremolo, making me not able to get the tuning.
There's some muted notes on some particular notes I play on the fret.

I've fix this guitar once. but still it's giving problem again. OMG! :(

Hmm, the difference in models, i think it is due to different specifications, like wood, pickups, bridges, and where it is made from.

I think it is better if u can check out other brands besides Ibanez. Perhaps more of a higher end Cort, Schecter, Esp/Ltd or something? Be open to more choices, experiment different guitars.

Another thing is talking of a dual action bridge, an example is a floyd rose (if im not wrong). Well, floyd rose is good when you wanna have a wider range of playing style. But the thing is that it is troublesome, especially when it comes to restringing.

yea... Thanks,
I've been thinking of the same thing before...
though of getting either a CIJ or MIJ Fender Telecaster but 1 thing is...
it got no Floyd rose to play with.... lol thats why...

well cort is out of my option... If a cort is kinda costly if i were to get a better one, and it's enough to get a Ibanez, then why not choose a higher rated brand?

icic... yeah, I'm aware of the restring possess...

thanks =D

he he... the bridge in the RG350 is the Edge III, not a Floyd Rose unit...

Agree with Edyeo123. Don't limit yourself to Ibanez but try some other brands as well. The Ibanez RG might suit you, or it might not suit you. I personally find the Ibanez Sabers (SA, S and SZ series) more comfortable than the Ibanez RGs but it depends on your personal preferences because everyone's different.

I'd recommend LTD guitars as well. It is also a high-rated brand with a lot of big-name endorsers. But if you want one with an Original Floyd Rose tremolos (supposedly better than the Licensed Floyd Rose tremolos), you might have to pay a little more.

yeah... maybe I'll give a try for Ibanez, ESP, LSP.
Guitars that got a Floyd Rose unit...
lol... about what what subversion said above...
Ibanez RG350M is having a Edge III unit, not Floyd Rose...
All of them look similar designs... aren't all of them the same?
