Greetings!

Is there a condenser mic equivalent of the Shure SM57? I'm actually using that right now for micing up a guitar cab but looking to record some acoustic string instruments like and possibly other stuff

Something entry level and affordable.

Btw i'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as my interface.

Many thanks in advance

PS- is the audio technica at2021 good?

Hi there,

I am doing a lot of recordings for my mobile studio gear.

I would recommend to go for Audio Technica Pro37. It have a nice flat response for strings. you gonna luv it.
AT2020 is ok.. but personally I would use PRO37 for strings over 2020. 2020 more suited for vocals and you may have a bit more highs using it with strings.

I'd recommend the AT2020 for Vocals too. It can do well with acoustic string or a piano, but not the best around. Also you might want to check out the PRODIPE LANEN ST1 for the cheapest price-for-quality or the USB SAMSON Meteor Mic for the portable capabilities. Enjoy!

I myself am using the Audio Technica AT2035 and it's beautiful.
The AT2020 is basically the same except without the in-built noise reduction and low cut bass reduction.

yeah. I myself prefer the MXL 990 or the ST-1 Lanen. It has a bigger diaphragm than the AT2020, you get more depth for your vocal recordings, and they don't get drowned out when you put them in the mix. check out luthermusic at excelsior shopping centre. They have a bunch for you to try out. www.luthermusic.com
