hi ppl i actually play classical guitars and have one at home but currently i'm superrrr interested in electrics and have been learning for 2 months and going...

i would like to get one but i know nuts about electric guitars, their brands and everything. so i would need some help!

i'm considering a new Les Paul Standard plus cos i heard it's good but it's kinda off my budget (max $600).. is there any other guitars that you guys would recommend? pls help!!

What guitar you choose will ultimately depend on the type of music you wish to play. However, given the budget you've stated, I would personally suggest you look at getting a mexican Fender Telecaster.

The reason I suggest a Telecaster is because it has a hard tail bridge. This means that, being your first electric guitar, you'll be able to get right into playing and not worry so much about problems that tremelo bridge may or may not cause you.

Secondly, the Telecaster has a very straight forward electronic configuration. You generally have 3 pickup selector positions. Again, simplicity is the key here as this allows you to worry more about playing, for now, than fiddling around with electronics. It also has a unique tone which I personally find sounds good, but your mileage may vary.

I consider Telecasters to be excellent starter guitars for these reason. Because their construction and configuration is relatively simple, less things can go wrong than on other budget guitars.

hmm... i got my lp standard plus 1st hand at $600. not sure bout de price now, however if u like a les paul copy and u might wan to play something heavy, u could check out de knight lp copy at de front page of http://www.standardvalue.com.sg/. it's only $30 off ur budget plus it's pickups r definitely better den my lp's stock pick ups.

cos i heard swee lee is really expensive :\

which is good for a beginner like me then? prolly something "ready made" kinda thing. ^^

Yamaha guitars, go plaza sing and check em out. Other cheap and good brands to consider SX, some squires are ok (gotta try first). Dun go epiphone. Erm, if u can score a 2nd hand rg or gsa quite nice oso. Check the buy/sell section.
