I've had my Rally Big Apple for over a year now and I'm glad I've grown into it. It's a great bang for buck guitar that I bought 2nd hand and have no regrets since. It's not the greatest guitar but I'm glad to say, I wanna keep this baby till I die. I wanna upgrade the 2 humbucker pickups on this guitar but I don't where to start. I want to go for a rock/jazz/bluesy tunes and definitely not metal. Basically something versatile. Of course, I'm definitely concerned with the budget. Probably below $150.

A single pickup unit would cost about S$100-ish for Seymour Duncans I suppose.

Teslas about S$70+ so maybe you could give them a go at svguitars

For Teslas, either the VR-2 or VR-60. There are also other low-cost aftermarket pickup manufacturers you can consider like Giovanni, Sky or Tonerider. I highly reccomend Tonerider's Alnico IV Classics set.

let's say I were to get a set of humbuckers from a fellow softie, issit possible for me to send the guitar and pups to a shop and for me to pay only the installation and workmanship fees?

Yes it's possible.
They will charge for installation of pickups and workmanship only.

For semi hollows, I prefer lower output, vintage sounding pickups. Go for Tonerider Alnico IV. within your budget and definitely high quality pickups.

Can get them from guitar connection.

^Yep.

I wouldn't put high output pickups on a semi hollow.
Unless you're really into the heavier stuff and you really like your semi hollow,
be prepared to invest in a noise gate.

i hope you aren't dealing with people out there who insist installation is part of the pickups' acquisition/ sale.

Hey man,

I use an ES-335 copy too. And I use Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 pickups on my bridge. Really versatile pickups and I love them to death! I don't really play metal, but i play alot of alternative music. Really nice cleans and it goes mad with distortions.

Really great to see a semi-hollow guitar player!
