i just bought a new guitar the other day. i test it on the shop but didn't notice the string buzz coz it's quite noisy. then i try my guitar at home. then i notice it.. i bought at swee lee. anyone here knows whether they will do a 1 to 1 exchange or will they repair it?

send ur guitar for a full set up. it will solve all ur problems. beez does excellent set ups for a very reasonable price.

but i just bought it. it doesn't make sense if i need to pay for a full setup for a new guitar. anyway. where or who is beez? and how much does the full setup cost?

its not swee lees fault. its probably the factory that did not set up the guitar properly. most ppl send their guitars for set ups immediately after purchasing a guitar because they dont trust the factory set up.

setting up will also solve all the intonation issues and if the neck happens to be warped, it will all be fixed, including the string buzzing thats caused by the low action of the guitar.

beez can be found at roxy square. its opposite parkway parade. call him for prices.

As dudelove explained above, fret buzz can be solved by a proper setup. No need to exchange the guitar. Swee Lee do provide setup service for new guitars at no cost (I sent in mine once). Call them and ask but I suggest bring your guitar to Beez at Look for Beez or Mike at Standard Value as they can do a much better setup.

yeah setups...

we should really do an faq sub-forum, eg setups, fretbuzz, recommend me so and so and so etc...good idea?hm..

hi there 8-)

strings don't buzz, what you hear is likely to be fret buzz or some other buzzing caused by the guitar's hardware (nut/ tuners/ bridge).

a 1-for-1 exchange would not solve this problem immediately, there's no guarantee the next guitar would not manifest the same problem.

it's about setting the guitar up (as mentioned wisely in the preceding posts), do not assume that a fresh guitar should not give you this problem, even a $10K Gibson might do so.

who is Beez? here: http://theguitaraddict.blogspot.com/2008/03/beez-work.html
besides electronics make-over, Beez does set-ups as well.

thanks for the reply guys.. i'll got to swee lee first and ask them to set up mine.. coz i'm already broke buying this guitar. next month then go to beez.

Maybe u cld jus bear with the fretbuzz a bit, bcos there's no point in sending for 2 setups when jus 1 good one will do. In fact, based on personal experiece, SL might screw up ur guitar more. Recommend u go straight to either Beez or Mike, if ur broke then jus wait.

actually i went to SL today but never ask them to setup my guitar. just try some amps with my guitar there. maybe I should wait till i got money for a good setup.
